Custom Crystal Chandelier Quote: A Buyer’s Checklist

A useful custom crystal chandelier quote starts with a clear description of what you want supplied. Send the design reference, proposed dimensions, quantity, installation location and delivery destination together. If some decisions are still open, label them as provisional so the supplier can state the assumptions behind its price.

For hotel procurement teams, interior designers and lighting importers, the challenge is often comparing quotations that cover different things. One may include lamps and spare crystals; another may cover the fixture alone. This checklist helps you ask for a defined scope before comparing the figures.

1. Identify the design and intended space

Start with a product link, model number, drawing or reference photograph. Explain which features matter: the overall silhouette, number of tiers, arm arrangement, metal finish or crystal shape. A reference image communicates a direction; it does not confirm that a supplier can reproduce every detail.

Describe the intended location, such as a hotel lobby, villa staircase, dining room or corridor. Include a room photograph and a floor plan or section drawing if available. For a project with several areas, give each fixture a location code so the design team and supplier can discuss the same item without relying on filenames alone.

Browse the crystal chandelier collection to identify a starting design before requesting changes.

2. Separate fixture dimensions from installed height

Specify diameter or width, fixture body height and the proposed overall suspension height. Mark the units clearly. A body-height measurement may exclude the chain, suspension rod and ceiling canopy, so ask for a drawing showing exactly what each measurement includes.

For a staircase or double-height space, provide a section drawing with floor and ceiling levels. Tell the supplier about access constraints and any installation openings that may affect how the chandelier is delivered in sections.

The building structure, fixing arrangement, weight and installation method need confirmation by the responsible project professionals. A decorative reference image or a room-height formula cannot establish whether a particular fixing is suitable.

3. Define the finish and crystal selection

“Gold” or “chrome” alone may leave room for interpretation. Provide a finish reference or request a physical sample where appearance is important. Clarify the intended colour, gloss and texture, and record which sample will govern approval.

For the crystal components, ask the supplier to identify the proposed option and describe any alternatives separately. Compare samples under the conditions relevant to your project when possible. Do not assume that different crystal options have identical appearance, replacement availability or pricing.

If the chandelier must coordinate with wall lights or other fixtures, include those items in the same schedule and specify whether their finishes must match.

4. Confirm the electrical and light-source scope

State the destination market and the electrical requirements supplied by your project team. Ask the supplier to identify the proposed lamp holders or integrated light source, whether lamps are included, and what documentation is available for the exact configuration being quoted.

If dimming is required, identify the control system and request compatibility confirmation for the proposed combination. Avoid treating the word “dimmable” as a complete specification.

Any certification request should identify the relevant model and supplied configuration. A general statement about a factory does not, by itself, establish the documentation available for every fixture.

5. Give quantities and approval requirements

List the quantity for each model and location rather than giving only a project total. Mark which fixtures share a design and which require individual changes. For a repeat order, include the earlier approved drawing or specification revision where available.

Ask how the supplier will handle drawing approval, finish samples, any prototype requirement and later design changes. Confirm the minimum order conditions for your particular request rather than assuming that stock products and bespoke designs follow the same terms. JFM’s frequently asked questions provide a starting point for that conversation.

6. Make delivery and packaging assumptions explicit

Provide the destination and required on-site date. Distinguish the date you need the goods from the production completion date. Ask the supplier to explain which approvals or information are needed before a delivery schedule can be confirmed.

Request a clear description of the packaging scope: whether major parts travel separately, how components are labelled, what packing list is provided and which spare items are included. Agree any special handling or documentation requirements before placing the order.

The quotation should state its delivery terms and identify which transport or other charges are included. Compare suppliers using the same delivery basis, currency and supply scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request a quote before the dimensions are final?

Yes. Mark the dimensions as provisional and ask which assumptions the quotation uses. Request a revised price and drawing once the dimensions are approved.

Is a reference photograph enough for a firm quotation?

A photograph is a useful starting point, but it may not reveal dimensions, materials, electrical components or installation details. Ask the supplier what additional information is needed to confirm the supply scope.

What should I compare besides the fixture price?

Compare the approved specification, included lamps and spare parts, packaging, documentation, delivery terms and exclusions. Keep quantities, currency and drawing revisions consistent between offers.

Before you accept the quotation

Check that the model references, quantities and drawing revisions match your request. Ask the supplier to identify exclusions and assumptions in writing. If a specification changes, request a revised quotation rather than relying on an older price with an informal note attached.

Keep the approved specification, drawings and commercial terms together. That gives purchasing, manufacturing and installation teams a shared reference as the project develops.

To discuss a JFM Lighting design, send your project requirements with the product link, proposed dimensions and quantity. Mark any undecided details so the team can address them in its response.
